Why Use
Performs similarly to Maddrey's Discriminant Function at predicting mortality, and better than the MELD Score and Lille Model , in one retrospective study ( Garcia-Saenz-de-Sicilia 2017 ).
When to Use
Patients with alcoholic hepatitis.
Formula
ABIC Score = ( A ge, years × 0.1) + (Serum B ilirubin, mg/dL × 0.08) + ( I NR × 0.8) + (Serum C reatinine, mg/dL × 0.3)
Advice
We are not aware of any guidelines that recommend steroid administration based on ABIC Score, but could be reasonable to consider in the decision given its mortality prediction by severity.
