The ATRIA Stroke Risk score, like the CHA₂DS₂-VASc Score can help objectify stroke risk, and perform better than the more well-known CHADS₂ Score .
When to Use
Patients with atrial fibrillation with potential bleeding risks to help quantify stroke risk. Patients who are apprehensive about anticoagulation to better understand their stroke risk.

Advice
Patients should be evaluated for bleeding risk before initiating anticoagulation; risk of bleeding can be estimated using the HAS-BLED Score for Major Bleeding Risk or several other scores.
